Still Skiing But Snowtubing Closed in Prep of Golf

Just like that winter ended and the snowtubing park closed for the season. Now, we want golf to begin and that is scheduled for the first week of April. Until then, there is still plenty of skiing in the Poconos at Shawnee and Camelback Mountain Resort. In fact, Camelback is hosting the carboard box derby and pond skimming competitions this weekend. Really fun and funny. It is not too late to enter. There are lots of spring golf specials in the Poconos. You can find Fernwood’s Spring Golf Discount Coupon here. Also, this weekend the World Tavern Poker Championships are hosted in Fernwood’s Astor Room. The event is open to all players if you want to try your hand at poker.

Getting Ready For Fall

As the fall season begins to tighten its’ grip on the Pocono Mountains we at the Fernwood Hotel & Resort are in transition. Switching from the many activities that the summer season offers to a more relaxed pace for fall allows us to focus on creating specials and packages that provide you with a time for reflection, romance and renewing connections.

For younger families the kids have returned to school and the parents have begun to settle into the normal routine of everyday life. Older more established families may have bid farewell to their teenagers as they left home for college or started a new career and so the house is quieter and emptier. Now is a good time to plan a little getaway and treat yourselves to a special weekend just for the two of you.

Shawnee Balloon Festival

Coming on October 16th to the 18th is the Shawnee Mountain Timber & Balloon Festival. As the leaves turn from their summer green to the many shades of red and yellow so does the air begin to crisp up in the early morning hours giving way to a mild temperature during the day. Not hot enough to work up a sweat and not too cold as to get chilled to the bone – just sort of right in the middle – a hot chocolate or warm bowl of soup kind of day.

Enjoy the Pocono Mountains fall foliage backdrop during a weekend full of entertainment, music, food, lumberjack events and colorful hot air balloon launches with that special someone.

Visit the Fernwood Hotel & Resort Specials & Packages page on our web site to find all that we have to offer you for that little getaway.
