As the fall season begins to tighten its’ grip on the Pocono Mountains we at the Fernwood Hotel & Resort are in transition. Switching from the many activities that the summer season offers to a more relaxed pace for fall allows us to focus on creating specials and packages that provide you with a time for reflection, romance and renewing connections.
For younger families the kids have returned to school and the parents have begun to settle into the normal routine of everyday life. Older more established families may have bid farewell to their teenagers as they left home for college or started a new career and so the house is quieter and emptier. Coming on October 16th to the 18th is the Shawnee Mountain Timber & Balloon Festival. As the leaves turn from their summer green to the many shades of red and yellow so does the air begin to crisp up in the early morning hours giving way to a mild temperature during the day. Not hot enough to work up a sweat and not too cold as to get chilled to the bone – just sort of right in the middle – a hot chocolate or warm bowl of soup kind of day.
