Still Skiing But Snowtubing Closed in Prep of Golf

Just like that winter ended and the snowtubing park closed for the season. Now, we want golf to begin and that is scheduled for the first week of April. Until then, there is still plenty of skiing in the Poconos at Shawnee and Camelback Mountain Resort. In fact, Camelback is hosting the carboard box derby and pond skimming competitions this weekend. Really fun and funny. It is not too late to enter. There are lots of spring golf specials in the Poconos. You can find Fernwood’s Spring Golf Discount Coupon here. Also, this weekend the World Tavern Poker Championships are hosted in Fernwood’s Astor Room. The event is open to all players if you want to try your hand at poker.

Updates from the World Tavern Poker East PA / North Central Jersey Regionals

We have our final 30 – congratulations… they are now playing for top points.

——————————————————————
The Main Event – 3:00 pm Regionals has about 260 players looking to advance to the Nationals. Thirty players are moving on – right now it’s a dinner break and we’re down to about 50. With the blinds going up to 3000 and 6000 after the break the action will be moving fast and we’ll be down to the final 30 winners before you know it. Some of the smaller stacks will be trying to hang on and make it but the big stacks will be pushing them around.

Stay tuned…

Friday nights 6:00 pm Early Strikers Shootout saw about 100 players sit down at the tables. For those that do not know a shootout is different from your regular tournament structure. Each table of 10 players were playing to win their table only – that means no consolidation, it’s like every table was a final table. Each table winner moves on to play at the final table.

Final table players were:
- 1st place – Joe Kovac
- 2nd place – Sal Genovese
- 3rd place – Al Baldwin
- 4th place – Leo Lewis
- 5th place – Bruce Flinn (yours truly)
- 6th place – Jesse Broome

- 8th place – Barbara Prasto
- 9th place – Gary Prasto
- 10th place – The Mayor Soden
